2000 Issue 10: THE DIVINE CHILD

Dear Reader

With the sun moving northwards again, the idea of giving birth to, and nurturing, the Divine Child in us, has been very much alive in us during the last few weeks (you’ll see that when you read this month's articles). That’s why, recently, staff at Cygnus thought it would be fun to swap photos of each other when we were children, photographs of how we looked when we were still ‘trailing clouds of glory..., from Heaven which is our home.’

Yes, though it may sound rather far-fetched or self-aggrandising to some, we are quite willing to believe those words of William Wordsworth – that before we were born we all came from a place where we were utterly bathed in that golden light of unconditional love, forgiveness and bliss which radiates constantly from the Father-Mother of all things. Being born on earth we still expected that love, which of course no human being can deliver to the same extent – hence our disappointments, our forgettings, and the gradual building up of a kind of shell around our soft, tender, ever-expectant heart. That shell is who we are now – the conditioned self – who believes that we can be hurt, that we can suffer, that we can lose, that we can lack, that we can be separated from God and our loved ones, and whose world reflects those beliefs.

But are those beliefs really true? Only if we expect our deliverance from the upside-down world those beliefs have created. If we look to our original Home instead, through the wide-open, trusting eyes of the Divine Child who still exists within us, deliverance is always here, always with us. That’s why we love the ‘Child of God’ card from The Enlightenment Pack (currently out of print), about which Chuck Spezzano says: “Being created by God (in whatever form you understand Him to be), we are Children of God. Were we to recognize this, there is nothing we would not be given. Imagine the best mother or father in the world and how much they would give their children. Imagine how much more is being offered to you today: the answers to all your problems, release from any bondage, and an openness to all good things. This is who you are. This is what you deserve. As a Child of God, you are called to greatness and to all good things. If any trap seems in your way today, just state sincerely: I am a Child of God. This problem is not God’s will for me. What God would want for me is..... And listen for what comes through.” You will be amazed.

And that, quite simply, is how to put yourself under the shower of divine love and forgiveness, and be cleansed and bathed in every good gift, even if you’re totally smothered in soot from the mines! So... now that we’ve thought about how we can bring gifts to the Divine Child in us, and how we can unwrap the gift that is the Divine Child, it’s time to say that, with Christmas approaching, we’ve tried to choose books and music for this Review that will appeal not only to you, but also to your friends and loved ones and, especially, to the children in your life. If you’re looking for gifts, it may also help you to know that we still have stock of around 90% of all the titles we have featured since January this year, so you’re welcome to choose from any of this year’s Reviews.

With much love from all of us,
Geoff, Ann, Jackie, Derek, Martyn, Jackie M, Sue, Samantha, Regina, Jon, Sam, Bertel, Sandra, Pat, Karena, Louisa, Mary and Emma.
