Dear Reader
When choosing books for you, we often wonder: do their words lift us up so that, if we were to read them before sleeping, our soul would already be a little bit tuned in to the place of instruction it goes to while we are asleep (we hope!). It’s not easy to find books like that, but we’re always trying....
That thought, combined with the vivid impression of profound stillness conveyed by this month’s cover photo, taken by Cygnus reader Christine Rusling, inspired the following poem:
While nature sleeps, Heaven wakes, pouring Life renewed into the heart of things. Every year a new beginning. While the body sleeps, the Spirit wakes, pouring Life renewed into the soul of things. Every day a new beginning. Follow nature, then, and rest this Christmastide. Surrender to the forgiving arms of stillness and let the cosmic tide of holiness wash away the tattered rags of yesterday. A New Day is beginning, and - yes - you too can be clothed anew in Christmas gold!
With much love from all of us, and our very best wishes for a Christmas break filled with joy, warmth and peace,
Geoff, Ann, Jackie, Derek, Martyn, Jackie M, Sue, Samantha, Regina, Jon, Sam, Bertel, Sandra, Pat, Karena, Louisa, Mary, Emma and Belinda.
