2002 Issue 08: WE ARE NEVER ALONE

Dear Friends,

The Brazilian mystic Paulo Coelho's latest book, Manual of the Warrior of Light, has just been published in English. It's marvellous – really encouraging – and it appeared at a particularly appropriate time for us, since we'd just emerged unscathed from a veritable snowstorm of difficulties (we'll spare you the details!). This experience made us feel very much like Warriors of Light, and taught us some lessons about ‘Light Warriorhood' that we'd like to add to Paulo Coelho's (we hope he doesn't mind!).

There we were, surrounded on all sides, so to speak, with thickets of spears, and wondering, as one does on these occasions: ‘What's the inner meaning of this? Why is this happening? Is it because there's something we need to change or transform? In which case, what could it be? Or is it because we're being attacked? In which case, how do we protect ourselves?’

At first, we could think of no answer to these questions, and began to feel more and more bogged down and isolated beneath the weight of the problems facing us. In this somewhat miserable state, made even heavier by hearing about ‘wars and rumours of wars’ and impending environmental disaster in the daily news, we were driving along in the car one afternoon, when we thought, ‘Oh well. Might as well have some music to cheer us up,’ and turned on the radio. What do you think blared out, nearly making us jump out of our skin? ‘Help! I need somebody! Help! Not just anybody!’ We laughed our heads off. What a lovely way for the universe to remind us that we'd forgotten the first axiom of Light Warriorhood: WE ARE NEVER ALONE. Help is always at hand, help from the entire army of Light Warriors, extending like a broad, shining column all the way from life ‘down here’ up to the very highest Heart of the Divine. Help is at hand, but we need to remember to ask for it. And to remember that asking for help doesn't just make us feel better; it makes all our Light Warrior friends in the higher realms feel better, too. They cannot help us unless they are asked, and yet they have so much to give. How sad they must feel then, burgeoning as they are with help, when we forget to ask for it. So we asked.

Just a few moments later, we got out of the car and walked into a shop. And what do you think was playing? ‘All you need is love.’ Another reminder! We had also forgotten the second axiom of Light Warriorhood: WE DO NOT FIGHT, WE ‘LIGHT’. We do not resist and resent, worry and attack. We accept and transform with love. With love, we turn darkness into light, base matter into gold.

When we realised that, we knew what we had to do – at least on an inner level. So, the next chance we had for a quiet moment, we tuned in to the All Highest, and all the powers and beings surrounding and serving that One, and spoke the following, most loving words: ‘THY WILL BE DONE – in our family, at Cygnus, on this planet.’ And we spoke them not as a wish or a hope, but with utter conviction, as a creative fiat, a divine command, welling up from the divine centre we all share.

Meanwhile, down here on the Western Front, things didn't resolve themselves just like that, and everything was still in a rather large pickle. No sooner did we solve one problem, than another one would appear – and this kept on happening to such an extent that the only thing to do was laugh! We did doubt though. We'd spoken our fiat in what you might call the ‘Jesus’ part of ourselves, but the ‘John’ part of ourselves was still asking, as usual, ‘Are you He who is to come?' In other words, testing, testing, always testing: did we really do the right thing? Are we really on the right track? Or are we kidding ourselves? So there we were one evening, faces long with doubt and just about to pick up the phone to ask someone else's advice, when our son walked into the room and said, ‘I know what will cheer you up!’ and put a tape into the cassette player. Would you believe it? Out boomed the Beatles, yet again: ‘We can work it out. We can work it out!’ We collapsed with laughter. It was true though. We did work it out. That evening in fact. And from that moment on our tangled web of troubles started to unravel even faster, if anything, than it had ‘ravelled’. And we emerged, oh, so much stronger and wiser than we had ever been before.

This taught us the third axiom of Light Warriorhood: WE CAN NEVER LOSE, ONLY GAIN. If our whole prayer, our whole will, our whole trust rests in ‘Thy will be done’, we simply can't lose. It's the ultimate psychic protection, covering all eventualities. And then it doesn't matter what the cause of our troubles is. Whether they're caused by an inner need for growth and learning, or an outer attack, or both, the end result will be only gain, only good. So the only thing we need to feel towards our troubles is deep, deep gratitude.

And when, in the calm after the storm, we were able to look back dispassionately at the whole course of events, we could see that the really important things, the things essential to our task here on earth, were always protected, always utterly safe, whatever troubles were going on. And we bet that, if you look carefully at any difficult situation you've been involved with, on whatever level, you'll see exactly the same thing. That's how we realised the fourth axiom of Light Warriorhood: THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE ALWAYS PROTECTED.

We hope these axioms will help you with your Light Warriorhood, too, in the small particulars of life, as well as the great ones. As a present for all of you this month, we are enclosing a special edition of Positive News. In the challenges we face at this moment in time, we feel we can't get enough of information like this. We hope you enjoy reading it, and also this Review. With much love from all of us.
