2003 Issue 05: THE RESURRECTION OF THE TRUE SELF

Dear Friends,

As we write this, it is two weeks before Easter, and we have to confess that we have been feeling, just like you probably have in these last few weeks, as if we were buried in a tomb. Events in our locality, as well as in the world at large, have forced us to gaze right into the face of human darkness, to experience it so closely we could almost ‘smell its breath', and the weight of it was pressing on our hearts like a great big stone. How can human beings be so inhuman to each other? How can we (we can't say ‘they’, for we are all one) be so blind?

This great, world-encompassing sorrow, is the sorrow the Higher Self in each one of us has to bear, whether or not we are conscious of it. And the big question for every Lightworker is: how to keep our hearts open to the suffering of the world, whilst not being ‘turned to stone’ by it. Merely blocking it out of our awareness, though the obvious, easy option, is not the honest one, the choice that remains true to the Higher Self.

So... there we were, overwhelmed at last by the awful tide of events, turned to stone, buried in the tomb of human darkness, hearts heavy as lead.... But eventually this experience of burial forced us to realise the only way out of the tomb. And what was that? To fight? To pray?

No. To look at ourselves, as if in a crystal mirror, and see – more clearly than ever before – Who was really buried there. Not I, the little I, but the greater, Higher Self, the I-We, the One who is at the same time a perfect, unique individuality, and a perfect part of the Divine Oneness.

And we realised the simple fact that no tomb, no darkness, can hold the Light of that Divine Self. By entering the tomb, by being present, right here, in the darkness, the Light simply dissolves it. And that's the meaning of resurrection.

Having realised that, we said these words to ourselves:

I AM Light,
I AM Love,
and in the pure radiance
of My Holy Presence,
no darkness can exist.

That's the kind of Light, the kind of Love we need send out to all places where darkness dwells – the Light and love which, in the highest sense, we ARE. It radiates from us at all times, whether or not we are aware of it, by virtue of our being. By becoming conscious of it, we focus it like a laser beam. So.... Let there be Light!

With much love from all of us.
