Last weekend was my first visit to London, staying with a dear friend; two women sharing each other's company, conversation and experiences.
The purpose of my stay was to meet with other members of the Healing Hands Network, preparing to offer their support to people still suffering from the ravages of a war that ended over a decade ago, in a country where the deep wounds of ages had culminated in bitter oppression and a thirst for revenge. War requires that we put aside life as we know it and shape the future on a legacy from the past, the darkest side of patriarchal power destroying boundaries of country and citizens alike. When at war, every life suffers. A declaration of war seems to justify actions that in peacetime would be unacceptable and unthinkable.
What justifies the ugliest actions that war brings? A command from an external source, or an internal response to a deeply held belief or pattern? Do we need to have experienced a war situation to know the energetic result of domination and suppression?
How many live today with the resulting limiting patterns laid down by past oppressive experience? Scars are held deep within us, some which we may be conscious of, some that run so deep that we respond to without awareness. Wounds not visible by the human eye strip us of our worthiness and trick the soul into believing that their memory needs to be retained as a way of protection, justification, or maybe such confusion that we question as to whether the event ‘remembered' ever really took place.
The darkest threads of memory easily strangle the emerging hope of personal freedom. A joyous life becomes distorted and we become battle-weary warriors without ever even taking up arms, no longer able to shine the light of innocence, just keeping alight the lamp of self limitation. Our daily lives are disrupted by the war raging within, creating today moments which will one day become a past life experience. Acknowledge the unjust behaviour you have received or witnessed, but do not give power to that time by retaining the anger, shame, guilt or fear.
Generations have carried the legacy of the overpowering and unjust actions of masculine domination, by established positions of authority. Man took what he wanted by forceful authority, woman became hidden and repressed, the soft nurturing qualities that were always within each of us disregarded by those unable to see the strength and beauty in feminine expression.
I am in no way suggesting that ‘men' in particular are to blame (I am very fond of men!), but more a domination from an unbalanced patriarchal system. Masculine domination is not limited to man: woman lacking in knowledge or experience of her own personal power may exchange creation for domination.
As Mother Earth cries out, longing for the respect she deserves, so do the women of the world. We have a responsibility, not only to ourselves but also to the many ages of women repressed for so long, to speak now with voices of peace and actions of compassion, remembering our position with a sense of awareness, honouring our bodies that will bring into life the next generation.
Wise women will use their magnificence with grace, knowing that they can rule the world, but don't need to; hold the reins of power, but don't have to; dominate, but have no desire to; choosing to live in harmony with male/female, mother/father, god/goddess, watching the delicate blooming of Pure Love as genders merge and emerge as equals.
Within the body it is the lungs that give protection and surround the heart, breath and rhythm of the body, working together to sustain life. Perhaps now is the time in history that we are willing to welcome the gifts of woman, to express gentleness without fear of ridicule or as a sign of weakness. As the gentle heart opens, man will respond without overpowering, but empowering; supporting the delicate balance; becoming the wings to the heart, the mediator. Let it talk to you and show you the way.
Male/female in harmony reveal the wisdom of a shared love. Without tolerance and acceptance of each other all will be lost, but together we can exist and rejoice, living in Love for ourselves and our home, the planet we know as Mother Earth suspended in cosmic glory by Father Sky.
LOVE – the energetic vibration of life – is the only way.
