I remember when Greg Suart phoned me to tell me of his vision for Wisdom Cards, which would guide and inspire people. He believed that there are many who do not tune into angels or overt spiritual things but who like to be reminded of true spiritual principles. When he asked me to work with him on this project I felt a huge flame of delight within me. And, although we do not mention angels in the cards, they inspired us as we wrote!
We all have wisdom hidden within us and sometimes it takes a few words to trigger our deep knowing. There are some reminders that I particularly like, for example the BENEVOLENCE card which prompts us that ‘benevolence is like an oil which soothes troubled waters. One person acting in this way can transform people and situations by easing their hearts and souls.’
And also, DECISIONS ‘When you take a decision with integrity for the highest good, the universe re-arranges itself so that everyone ultimately benefits.’ I have so often seen this working out in my life and that of others. It is so easy to be a martyr and think you are doing the right thing because your friends, family or colleagues will suffer if you do what makes your heart sing. But the wisdom cards remind us of a higher truth.
Wise ones say that you teach what you need to learn so I always watch what I am talking or writing about because that is going to be my potential growth area. I have often heard myself giving someone the answer to their problem and as the words come out of my mouth it solves my problem as well as theirs! When this happens there is always a resonance and a light goes on for me. I used to feel bad about this. How arrogant I thought to offer wisdom on a subject that I know is not in alignment in my life. So some years ago I asked my Guide, Kumeka, about it. His reply was really helpful and made me feel better. He said that it was the aspect of me that had already learnt this lesson that was able to give the illuminating response.
I thought of this when I read the AUTHENTICITY card, part of which says, ‘When you are genuine and honest, people sense your integrity and respond by trusting you. Your relationships then become rich and rewarding. People feel safe around you and this ultimately serves you well.’ It gave me a warm feeling and I hope you have one too as you read these words. I know how safe I feel when I am with authentic people.
Before I started to write this column I picked a card at random and received CONSERVATION. Whilst abundance is unlimited, ecological resources are not, nor are your own mental and emotional energies. You are called upon to exercise restraint and care for yourself and the planet.
‘Reach beyond mere convenience and token acts of conservation, toward a deeper understanding of balance in your life and your environment. Be prudent and husband resources wisely.
Do not waste your vital essence on worry, stress or anger – Create and nurture a positive, loving frame of mind to return yourself to equilibrium once more.'
Affirmation: I conserve the finite and honour the infinite.
It was the last card I expected and set me thinking for I try to conserve planetary resources and am hot on turning off lights and not keeping things on standby. However the first thing I did was to check them all. Then I realised that it must be me! I was working too hard and was out of balance. I was wasting energy in all sorts of ways and it gave me a little jolt. I was determined to bear it in mind all day and let it make a difference.
‘Growth happens automatically when the environment is favourable. In the right conditions a flower effortlessly reaches for the light.’ Success is not about flogging ourselves. All we have to do is nurture ourselves.
I am sure you will enjoy these cards. Already I have found they hit a spot just when I need it and I hope they do for you too.
