Sacred Places and Spaces Have you ever visited a sacred place and been aware of the peaceful energy which enveloped your body so that you felt you could almost have grasped it? Perhaps you felt drawn to learn more facts about the history of this amazing ancient site, and discover the secrets of the land which had created such a feeling of peace and serenity.
Then it's time to discover the ancient art of dowsing as this simple tool can give you accurate answers to an enormous number of questions ranging from the source of the standing stones, how many thousands of years they have been on the site, to the number of men required to move the stones.
Why do so many ancient places have such wonderful energy? What did ancient man know that we have long forgotten? The pendulum or rods will confirm if the sites were chosen because of their alignment with certain stars or were used for religious gatherings. It would help to bring peace to our world if we knew the answers.
Dowsing is an invaluable tool when searching for confirmation and Cygnus has many books on it, including my own: Dowsing for Answers [180210, £7.65]. Roughly 90% of folks have the ability to dowse, so 'have a go'.

Then and Now When I was young, my sacred place was in the old church where I sang in the choir and 'felt' such wonder for a presence I could not yet define.
As I grew older, I longed to have the means to travel far and wide visiting all of those wonderful places and sites that have long been considered sacred spaces, just to bask in the energy suffused within them.
Now..... I realise that I don't need to go anywhere, for that same sacred energy is within my own heart. I just close my eyes, and reconnect.

To Know Heaven While I Live Here She careful keeps Her treasures in earth’s deeps, while on the land, touched by Her hand, is all that beauty seeks.
Once I would walk by when earth was jewelled, bright, yet closed in heart and eye those gems escaped my sight.
Now I find Your gifts as the sun bows low to me, where Your light creates a pattern that suffuses all I see.
There the mossy trunk of oak, becomes my sacred place, a temple, green and gold to my heart’s open space.
Here is where I choose to know heaven while I live, a place of peace and joy, of blessing that love gives.
Inner sanctum of your heart Do not cry beautiful one, for you are the breath of hope, the singer of ancient songs welcoming in the dawn of a new day. Do not cry beautiful one, for you hold the key to tomorrow’s sunrise. You are the laughter of children’s smiling faces. Pick up the chalice of love and celebrate the gift of living. Be the change you hope for in your children. You sit in a silent space, a moment’s repose. What do you see, dear one? You see a human being standing on the other side of the world. You are looking into the eyes of a child asking for help. Your heart opens and reaches out. Something in the cry of the child touches your soul, and in that instant the little child knows that someone loves it enough to care. This child whose name you may never know, lives to see the birth of another dawn and feels the breath of hope. The sacred inner sanctum of your heart remembers its connection to all of life’s beating heart. In that moment of stillness you find a connection to all of creation. Where is this sacred space, dear one? ‘Inside my heart’, you say, ‘Inside my heart.’

A Moment in Time Slowly I pushed open The door of the old church It closed behind me with a bang A scent of wallflowers Floated on a breeze And passed softly by
I saw them standing In the two vases Either side of the altar Erect and in full bloom Next to the unlit candles
I knelt in front of the cross Like Mary at the crucifixion And prayed in the silence With the ghosts of a bygone age
I shivered as the sun Lit the stained glass window And felt the glory Of the resurrection.
