Like so many things in the Hidden Kingdom, magic is less complicated than you think. What grown-ups think of as magic is almost entirely misunderstood. Magic is not about casting spells or making elephants disappear. Magic is a natural state of wonderment. Of course, little children know the real truth. Magic penetrates everything. Beauty and enchantment are truly in the eyes of the beholder. And the wider and deeper those eyes are, the more magic can be seen. Here, for example, are two secrets of the Faery Kingdom it may help you to know: How to walk through walls You have to understand that in the Hidden Kingdom, walking through walls is really not considered that much of a big deal. According to ancient faery ‘filosophy’, the process of walking through walls is simply another step on the path of growth. When you understand that, you can perform what look like miracles. You see, when a faery or group of faeries come upon a wall (or any other kind of significant obstacle in their daily path) they don’t try and walk through it. They don’t try to get around it. Instead, they immediately stop and relax, settling down in front of the particular obstacle, and begin to look at it. Soon enough they start to sing and dance and celebrate its very existence (because, after all, that’s what faeries do best). In other words, they totally accept whatever blockages appear on their path. Then, before long (less than the time it takes for a faery to smile), they're standing on the other side. They have effortlessly ‘passed through’. In many different instances in the faeries’ domain, whether it happens to be in a garden or on a forest floor, this simple but powerful method of ‘walking through walls’ is constantly put into practice. Take a young tree, for example, that is growing up through the earth. If, by some mishap of weather (or Man) an obstacle falls in the tree’s growing path (like a large boulder, or even a rusted automobile engine) the tree does not attempt to ‘walk through the wall’. To the tree (and to the faeries) that would be absurd and a great waste of energy. What the tree does is to, first and foremost, acknowledge and accept the boulder’s existence, then it proceeds to include that boulder in its growing path. In other words, it grows with it. The tree does not get angry or upset (the way humans often do), it does not give up or give in. It simply continues on its way. But now its route (and roots) have literally been altered by the presence of the boulder. The tree’s growing path will never be the same – yet the tree has never, even for an instant, stopped growing. Of course, the same is true for all ‘walls’ that grown-ups may happen to encounter in their own life; any type of obstacles that suddenly appear in their growing path. Whether these ‘walls’ are creative blocks, emotional blocks, or even physical blocks, the way ‘through them’ is still the same. Just do what the faeries do. When you stumble upon a new wall in your life: 1. Completely acknowledge and accept the wall. (Spend as much time as necessary. Never rush.) 2. Celebrate, praise and welcome the wall into your life. (The faeries love song and dance, but you can do just about anything.) 3. Include the wall in your growing path. (This part comes pretty naturally once you've completed steps 1 and 2.) One important thing to remember about ‘praising your wall’. As a human being, you must expand your definition of ‘praise’. Since the difference between humans and faeries is that humans have the ability to wound and be wounded, then for humans, praising takes on another dimension. In the human realm praise means allowing something the right and privilege to exist. Whether that something is as simple as writer’s block or as complex as cancer. Praise means honouring both your feelings and ‘it’ simultaneously. If rage and grief is how you feel about your wall, then praise those feelings – by ‘singing’ in your journal, writing sad, confused poetry, dancing sharp and bitter dances. Remember that for grown-ups the ability to wound and be wounded, if praised and celebrated and honoured properly, deepens the experience of being alive and ultimately builds humanity and compassion. Of course all these steps take practice. But once you have learned this enormously simple yet powerful secret, a whole new world will open up. So the next time you stumble upon a ‘wall’ as you’re strolling along your ‘growing path' it will be as easy as one, two, three – and before you know it (less than the time it takes for a faery to smile) you’ll be dancing on the other side! The future of God There is a secret prophecy within the Hidden Kingdom that is rarely spoken about. Yet all living things have always known it. Over the many hundreds and thousands of centuries, this secret has been shared with very few human beings. The reason is that men and women have never before been ready to embrace this. But the time has finally come. The beings from the Hidden Kingdom feel that humankind is ready to hear this ancient divination: ‘Within the heart of every human being there is a glorious and unique sound waiting to be birthed. Whatever that human being does or does not do, eventually that sound will be born. What quickens the birth is that human being's sincere dedication and willingness to reveal the truth of who they are, to share their divine presence, to become truly themselves – an act many grown-ups consider to be too intimate and frightening. Yet sharing divine presence is a great part of the Hidden Kingdom. And it is truly a courageous act. In the moment that any human being acknowledges their deep willingness to ‘show' themselves – to share their divine nature – this sound is literally born into the ethers. And the more the human being shares who they are with themselves and the world, the greater and deeper that sound becomes. And that sound is a tiny part, or note, or melody, of what is known as ‘The Song of God’. When enough of humanity gives birth to these glorious sounds (and once the scale is tipped it actually draws out the sounds in the remaining people) then an extraordinary cosmic event occurs. A song so magnificent, so powerful, so inspired erupts throughout the universe; a song so potent that it sings a new God into existence. A God that every man and woman and child has ever hoped and prayed for. And with this new God, a new planet will be created. And on this planet, a new race of grown-ups full of spirit and compassion will be born. And the God they celebrate and pray to will be the God that you helped create. Simply expressed... you, all of you, right now are the mothers and fathers of that future God.’ From Believing in Faeries, © 1999 by Marcia Zina Mager, published in the UK by C W Daniel.
